Accident case: Mystery still shrouds death of SI Khaleel, cop
The police do not know why the three were together at the time of the accident.
Hyderabad: The mystery surrounding the accident which killed SI Mohammed Khaleel and trainee constable Keerthi, and injured constable Mamta, remains unsolved. The police do not know why the three were together at the time of the accident. Though sources say that they knew each other, the police are yet to verify this from call records.
After the accident, the police recovered a video shot by a passer-by a couple of hours before the accident. The video depicts a car intercepting an RTC bus on the main road and blocking its path. The car driver and the bus driver are seen getting into an altercation. Rumours say the car in the video was Khaleel’s.
Khaleel started from Vikarabad after receiving a call from one of the two constables. By the time he reached the Police Academy, the constables who had been waiting for him boarded an RTC bus towards Rajendranagar.
When he came to know of this, the SI chased the bus, overtook it, and intercepted it so that the constables would alight and get into his car. An altercation broke out between the Khaleel and the bus driver, but passengers settled the matter. No RTC driver has filed a complaint regarding this.
Meanwhile, the police are waiting for access to the phone records of the victims. A senior official from Cyberabad said, “We can get details from Mamata, but she is still in ICU. The doctors have advised rest. The call records will give us clarity on how the victims were linked and when the constables joined SI Khaleel.”
On Saturday night the car driven by Khaleel crashed into a tree killing the SI and trainee constable Keerthi on the spot.
