Two drown off Mahabalipuram beach

Chennai: Two persons drowned at the Mahabalipuram beach in separate incidents and their bodies were washed ashore on Tuesday.

According to the police body of Karthik, 17, a native of Salem who visited the Mahabalipuram beach with his family was sucked away by a giant wave and drowned when he tried swimming in the sea near shore temple. 

In another incident, Mohmmed Salim, 34, from Selaiyur too got caught in a big wave while bathing in the sea at Mahabalipuram beach. 

“Bodies of both deceased were later shifted to GH for postmortem,” police said.
