BS Yeddyurappa playing politics on Mahadayi : DK Shivakumar
Referring to the BJP's move to welcome the tribunal's award, Mr Shivakumar said there is a need to make them understand the reality.
Ballari: Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday took a dig at BJP state president Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa for 'giving the Mahadayi water tribunal's award a political twist and claimed it had meted out injustice to the state.
Mr Shivakumar termed Tuesday the day the tribunal announced its award as a “dark day” for Karnataka and made clear his intention to file a review petition. The Ballari district in-charge minister was here on Wednesday to hoist the tricolour at the district stadium.
Mr Shivakumar told reporters that Karnataka was allowed to draw only 13.42 tmcft of water from Mahadayi river to the Malaprabha basin. "We had sought 7.5 tmc ft of water to fill the drinking water tanks in Ramadurga, Bailahongala and Savadatti, but the tribunal has not given its consent. It's injustice to Karnataka”, he said.
Referring to the BJP's move to welcome the tribunal's award, Mr Shivakumar said there is a need to make them understand the reality. "Even, BJP state president Yeddyurappa is politicising the tribunal's award since he does not have complete information on it", he said, adding, "the BJP led NDA government too has failed to deliver justice to Karnataka."
