Hyderabad: Though degree college admissions have been completed for the academic year 2018-2019, there are still hundreds of students looking for spot admissions in degree colleges. Degree college managements have demanded conducting spot admissions for vacant seats.

Mr Vijay Bhasker Reddy, General Secretary, Telangana Degree College Management, said “Hundreds of students are visiting the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and Degree colleges for requesting the convener of DOST online admissions to conduct spot admissions for the left-over students. But the council is not conducting the admissions.”

He adds, “It is a universal fact that many students consider degree as an option only if they don’t get into professional courses like engineering or medicine. But if the council closes this option even before EAMCET counselling ends for all streams, then students will lose their degree seat. Students should be given one last opportunity for taking admissions in degree colleges through spot admissions. Hence, we demand conducting of spot admissions for the left-over degree aspirants.”

Professor R. Limbadri, convener, DOST, said “No students have approached me for spot admissions except some students who didn’t get seat allotment.”
