Chennai: DMK working president M. K. Stalin has threatened to move the court if the state government declines to hand over the Rs 6,000 crore coal import scam to the CBI for investigation.

Demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Rs 6,000 crore scam in coal imports by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (Tangedco), Mr Stalin said in a statement on Wednesday that the situation warranted a CBI probe immediately.

His party would approach the court if a CBI probe is not sought by the state government. He alleged that Tangedco had imported inferior quality coal at higher prices showing the coal as superior quality, resulting in scam of Rs 6,000 crore.
