Kaleshwaram to brighten Telangana, says Etela Rajendar

Colourful ceremonies, Guard of Honour mark I-Day celebrations across the districts.

Karimnagar: The future of Telangana is going to be bright with the prestigious Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), stated health minister Etela Rajendar here on Thursday.

The minister was the chief guest at the 73rd Independence Day celebration at Karimnagar Police Parade grounds. Mr Rajendar hoisted the National Flag at a colourful ceremony and received the guard of honour by the police personnel.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Rajendar said that the KLIS which was completed in record time of just three years would create world history by breaking all previous records in terms of major irrigation projects that were constructed across the world. And the people of Karimnagar district were going to reap the benefits of project first.

Mr Rajendar said that the TRS government had introduced various innovative schemes and taken up developmental activities with the aim to improve the living standards of the people living in rural areas and was leading the state towards achieving ‘Bangaru Telangana.’

The government has prepared an action plan to sanction Rs 171.65 crore to 1,16,653 farmers during this kharif season under Rythu Bandhu scheme and is taking all necessary measures for the purchasing of produce at a minimum support price from the farmers, he informed.

Keeping in view the number of complaints related to improper land records, the government had taken up land reform works and completed it successfully, the minister said and added that the Mission Kakatiya project for restoration of lakes and tanks would increase the groundwater table across TS.

To solve the drinking water needs, the government had taken up Mission Bhagiratha and also introduced Haritha Haram programme for increasing the green cover and by arranging all the basic facilities in hospitals, the government is providing better health care on par with corporate hospitals, he added. Later, the health minister, Mr Rajendar handed over the awards and appreciation letters to the employees of various government departments who had rendered good service. Various tableaux explaining the developmental activities were performed by the students of various educational institutions.
