Low pressure likely over North Bay of Bengal
Visakhapatnam: A low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal around Thursday or Friday. It is expected to move gradually in west northwest direction, says Skymet, a private weather website on Tuesday.
Due to this, rain activities are expected to increase over West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and many parts of Madhya Pradesh including Vidarbha between Thursday and August 21.
An IMD Amaravati report says low pressure might be scattered over four districts of north coastal Andhra from Friday onwards.
IMD director Stella S. said scattered rains will continue till August 21, while hot and humid weather will prevail over many parts of the state during the next three to four days.
The Skymet report said monsoon rain will be near normal from Thursday to August 23 or August 24. The downtrend in monsoon rain will be arrested during that period, with the impact of El Nino being more prominent now.
The report concluded that the monsoon will end with below normal rainfall anywhere between 91 per cent and 94 per cent.
