Chennai: The Divisional Office of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) in Teynampet came under attack from members of a suspected fringe radical  group in connection with the ongoing Cauvery row in the small hours of Thursday. The group also left behind a one-paged typewritten note holding the Central government as accountable for the rage against Tamils in Karnataka.

Five unidentified persons who came on two bikes gate crashed into the office building located on Anna Salai, which is guarded round the clock by private security guards.

The gang hurled stones at the building's glass paned façade. They also tried to break the glass panes using crowbars, but in vain. The gang hurriedly stuck the notice on the spot and fled the scene.

The security guards could only stand watch as the gang members attacked and they alerted their superiors besides Teynampet Police. Cops who conducted spot investigations obtained copies of the footage from the surveillance cameras installed in the facility.  The cops had also recovered the stones and the crowbars used by the gang from the scene of crime. Teynampet Police are trying to trace the miscreants involved in the attack.

The note they left behind reads as follows: “It is the Indian government which unleashed Kannadiga racial violence on Tamils in Karnataka! The Kannadiga racial feeling was fed by BJP and Congress and each of them trying to outrank the other in the same! They both are puppets of the Indian government. Therefore, we strongly condemn the Indian government, which is solely responsible for the attacks!

In the meantime, a group of Naam Tamilar Katchi members who came to participate in the rally held in Egmore went on a rampage on Eldams road on sighting a Karnataka registered car. The gang was subdued by the cops in the vicinity.
