Shake-up in police force: 23 IPS officers transfered

BENGALURU: In a major reshuffle in the police department, the JD(S)-Congress coalition government transferred 23 IPS officers including the Additional Director of Police, Anti Corruption Bureau Alok Mohan, and has appointed Dr. Alikana S Murthy to the key post of ADGP, Karnataka Lokayukta, Bengaluru. PS Sandhu who was waiting for a posting has been appointed as ADGP and Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety, Bengaluru.

Controversial IPS officer Alok Kumar got a fresh lease of life from the JD(S)-Congress coalition government which gifted him a plum post of Inspector General and Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bengaluru. Alok Mohan, a 1987-batch IPS officer, has been posted as ADGP, Railways, Bengaluru while 1989-batch IPS officer Sanjay Sahay, who held the post of ADGP, Karnataka Lokayukta, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Police Computer Wing.  

Dr. P Ravindranath, ADGP, Police Computer Wing, Bengaluru, has been transferred and posted as ADGP of Forest Cell, Bengaluru. Dr. Alikana S Murthy who held this post before has been posted as ADGP, Karnataka Lokayukta, Bengaluru.  Ida Martin Marbaniang has been brought in to the city as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic West Division) as the government transferred TP Shivakumar. Similarly, DCP (Crime), Bengaluru, Ram Nivas Sepat has been posted as SP, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Bengaluru, while his posting has been given to S Girish who was SP ACB, Bengaluru. Similarly, SP, Special Task Force and Vigilance, BDA, KV Jagadish has been posted as DCP (Traffic East Division) while Anupam Agarwal who held this posting has been transferred without any posting.  

Mr. Alok Kumar whose name prominently figured in the interim report submitted by the CID in connection with the lottery scam, was suspended in 2015. Mr. Kumar was serving as Additional Commissioner of Police (West) in Bengaluru at the time of suspension. Five months after his suspension, Mr. Kumar was reinstated into the service and took charge as IGP, Training, Bengaluru in October 2015. Before the transfer, he was serving as IGP, Northern Range, Belagavi. Similarly, DCP (Law and Order), Mangaluru, Hanumantharaya who had faced a suspension for for his alleged involvement in abetting cricket betting when he was Hubballi DCP in 2015 has been posted as SP, Yadgir district.

Dr. Bheemashankar S Guled, previous Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural district, who was transferred without any post after his video of an alleged illicit affair with a woman went viral in July this year, has been posted as SP, Railways, Bengaluru.   Other transfers include, DIG and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bengaluru, N Sateesh Kumar who has been posted as DIGP, Karnataka State Reserve Police, Bengaluru; DIGP, Intelligence, Bengaluru, Sandeep Patil is posted as DIG and Joint Commissioner of Police, CAR Units, Bengaluru; Dr. PS Harsha who was waiting for the posting has been posted as DIGP, Prisons, Bengaluru; KT Balakrishna who was waiting for the posting has been posted as SP, Intelligence (Administration), Bengaluru; P Rajendra Prasad who was waiting for the posting has been posted as SP, Wireless, Bengaluru in the vacant post. 

G Radhika who was waiting for a posting has been placed as AIGP (General), DGP office, Bengaluru while SP and Director, Security and Vigilance, BMTC, Dr. AN Prakash Gowda is transferred and posted as SP, Hassan District. Rahul Kumar Sahapurwad who held this position has been transferred without any posting.  SP, Railways, Bengaluru, N Chaithra has been transferred and posted as SP, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, Bengaluru.
