Kalpetta: Vellamunda residents are planning an elaborate meeting on Sunday for streamlining agitations against the police slowdown in the twin murder probe.

A campaign ‘Justice for Ummer’ is on the cards to press the government to hand over the case to the crime branch.

The killer of Ummer, 25, son of Moithu and Ayisha and his wife Fathima, 20, is still at large even after two months.

Hacked down brutally their bodies were found in a pool of blood in their bedroom on July 6.

The UDF had observed a hartal in Vellamunda panchayat earlier protesting the police failure.

The action council has been demanding the state government to hand over the case to CB, but to no avail.

Though a 30-member team led by DySP K.M. Devassia is on with the investigation, it failed to achieve a breakthrough.

The action council had observed September 6 as a black day marking two months after the murder.

The relatives alleged that the police had failed even to trace the ornaments robbed by the killer.

There is not even a hint of the identity of the killer, after questioning countless migrant labourers.
