Prison Authorities Deny Bhuvaneswari Permission to Visit Jailed TD Chief Naidu
Vijayawada: The Rajahmundry Central Prison authorities have denied permission to Bhuvaneswari, wife of jailed TD chief Chandrababu Naidu, to meet him on Friday.
The authorities cited norms in the jail manual and said the meeting between the two could not be allowed now. Naidu is serving a 14-day judicial remand in connection with the AP skill development scam.
The jail authorities said Bhuvaneswari applied to them on Thursday for permission to meet her husband at noon on Friday. She did not mention any urgency to meet him. After Naidu was lodged in the jail on Sept 11, he availed two times’ Mulakat --the first on Sept. 12 when Bhuvaneswari, son Lokesh and brother-in-law Balakrishna met him in the jail. The second opportunity was availed on Sept 14 when Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, Lokesh and Balakrishna met him.
A remand prisoner could be permitted to avail only two mulakats in a week, with three members as a team in each mulakat, a jail official said.
A third mulakat could be allowed within a span of a week only if an urgency or emergency situation arises. The jail superintendent can use his or her discretionary powers and record the reasons for permitting the third mulakat.
