BENGALURU: Putting an end to speculation that the properties of high and mighty will escape the axe, Deputy Commissioner (Bengaluru Urban) V. Shankar has directed officials to issue notices to Kannada film actor Thoogudeepa Darshan, former minister Shamanur Shivashankarappa’s SS Hospital and 67 other property owners.

Mr Shankar told Deccan Chronicle that eviction notices will be issued through the Special Deputy Commissioner under the Section 39 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act. All the 69 encroachers at Ideal Homes Layout in Rajarajeshwarinagar will be given seven days to clear the encroachments. “If they fail to comply with the notice, we will demolish the encroachments and recover the cost from them,” he said.

A tahsildar has verified and submitted a report that 7.31 acres of government land has been encroached upon. Based on the report notices will be issued.
Some of the property owners submitted their documents, while some have not furnished any documents.

Criminal cases will be filed against BDA officials for granting permission to form layouts on government land and against officebearers of Ideal Homes Layout too, he said.

Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimappa, who visited Ideal Homes Layout and SS Hospital on Saturday along with urban department officials, allegedly took officials to task for approving illegal sanction plans.
