Indo-Russian ties behind KKNPP success, says PM

PM said that the success of KKNPP is the tangible result of the Indo-Russian cooperation in the field of civil nuclear programme.

Tirunelveli: In a milestone event in the civil nuclear programme of the country, Prime minister Narendra Modi along with the President of Russian federation, Vladimir Putin dedicated the second unit of 1,000MW of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) to the Indo-Russian friendship and co-operation through video conferencing on Saturday.

The two leaders too witnessed NPCIL CMD Satheesh Kumar Sharma and president of the Atomstroyexport, the key component supplier to KKNPP, Valery Limarenko laying of foundation concrete for the third and fourth reactors at KKNPP through video conferencing from  Goa, where Brics meet started on Saturday.

Addressing the officers and employees of KKNPP after dedicating the second unit, the Prime Minister said that the success of KKNPP is the tangible result of the Indo-Russian cooperation in the field of civil nuclear programme.

Moreover reassuring the strategic partnership with Russia, amidst great applause  from KKNPP officers and employees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address on the occasion added that an old friend like Russia is better than two new friends.
