Kozhikode: Gang of robbers lands in cops' net

Kozhikode: The Kasaba police has claimed to have busted a major gang involved in burglaries in the city after the arrest of its key members during the last few days.
The police chased their vehicles as they did not stop at the checkpoint and held four before the District Jail. Two of them were on the lookout notice.
During the interrogation, the cops found they were involved in more than 25 cases of burglary in six months within the city and other parts of the district.
They seized nine bikes, two high-end computers, one television, two tabs, eight vehicle, three motors and four spotlights.
After interrogating Ashik, Sanshahal and Shabir Ali, the police got information on four others - Akshay, Sanjeev, Raghav and Athul. While questioning Athul and Raghav, they got information on Akshay who is known as the leader of the gang and a drug peddler using women as carriers, said Kasaba CI Hariprasad who leads the investigation.
Akshay who gets the stolen bikes from other gang members would sell them at cheaper rates and dismantle unsold vehicles and sell in parts.
"Bullets, KTM Duke and Pulsar are some of the bikes he dealt with," he said.The search for Akshay and Sanjeev who are absconding has begun.
City police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar directed to form a special squad under the CI including cops involved in night patrolling and other investigation to trace robbers.
