Hyderabad: Residents of Anand Bagh, Safilguda and Malkajgiri are suffering from the stench emanating from industries nearby in the industrial areas of Nacharam and Moulali. The Anand Bagh Residential Welfare Association also approached officials of the Pollution Control Board (PCB) regarding this.

Residents of Anand Bagh noticed that the stench was causing ill effects like burning eyes, breathing problems, etc. This was noticed a year ago and controlled after several complaints by the residents. Residents are now unable to sleep due to the rank odour. The stink begins at 11 pm and continues till 4 am.

Mr V. Suresh Kumar, general secretary of the Anand Bagh Residential Welfare Association said, “We are facing this trouble for the last 15 to 20 days. We came across the same situation a year ago. Though we have approached the PCB through email, they have not responded to our complaint. They had earlier taken action and controlled the situation. We demand immediate action against these chemical industries which are spoiling the remnant clean air in the city.”

When approached, Regional Officer, Rangareddy 2, Mr Kumar Patak said, “We are always monitoring industries which emit pollutants. We have also directed all  industries to ensure the use of a controlling mechanism. We are not aware of the said issue and our night patrolling teams will immediately trace, the problem if any.”
