Four youth drown as their car falls into river in Uttara Kannada district

Karwar: Four youths who had been to their friend's house in Siddapur of Uttara Kannada district drowned when their car fell into the river near Unchalli falls on Wednesday night.

The incident took place at Kodana Mane near Heggarani of Siddapur taluk in the Uttara Kannada district.

According to sources four youths Nischal Hiremath (20), Roshan (20), Sushma (20), and Akshtha Hiremath (21) had come in a car from Hubballi to their friend's house at Siddapur. They had then left for Unchalli falls.

It was raining heavily in the region and the Aghanashini river was brimming with water. On Thursday afternoon when the river water decreased local people noticed a car in the river and informed the authorities. The car is said to have been found a few meters away from where it had fallen. The bodies of three -- Nischal, Roshan, and Sushma have been found. Till Thursday late evening search was on for Akshtha. A case is registered at the Siddapur Police station.
