Guntur: As many as 96 anganwadi centres in Guntur district will be developed into modern learning centres by an NRI. Guntur district joint collector Krithika Shukla, addressing the media in Gunture on Wednesday, said Guntur MP Galla Jayadev’s sister and NRI Dr G. Rama Devi has come forward to develop anganwadi centres into modern buildings.

She said that 32 anganwadis in Mangalagiri mandal, 12 anganwadis in Tadepalli mandal and 52 anganwadis in Tullur mandal will be developed as modern learning centres. She said the selected centres will get own buildings. Dr Rama Devi said that she has decided to develop the anganwadi centres as she could not see the children struggling in a single room, without basic amenities. The modern buildings will have all basic facilities and separate rooms for learning and entertainment. The works will start after the expenditure and requirements are known.
