Andhra Pradesh: MPTCs protest against MPDO
The MPTCs demanded the MPDO's suspension and registering a case under the SC, ST atrocity (prevention) Act.
Guntur: The MPTC members of Mangalagiri staged a novel protest at the MPDO office opposing the adamant behaviour of the officer at Mangalagiri. They slept at the MPDO office on Tuesday night and bathed at the same place on Wednesday morning. They also cleaned the premises with brooms.They alleged that the MPDO G. Padmavati did not conduct a meeting for the last 20 days, nor allocate funds for the development of villages. They complained that she did not show them the minutes book.
Mangalagiri mandal parishad vice-president M. Phakiraiah, MPTCs of CPM, TD and YSRC joined the protest on Tuesday night. Also, the MPTCs did not allow the staff to enter the office. On info, Guntur ZP CEO V. Nagarjuna Sagar rushed to the office and held talks with them. The MPTCs demanded the MPDO’s suspension and registering a case under the SC, ST atrocity (prevention) Act.
Mr Sagar assured about submitting a detailed report to district collector on the demands of the MPTCs and further about MPDO on which protesting MPTCs called off their agitation temporarily. They warned that if the officials did not initiate disciplinary action against MPDO then they will restart protest from Thursday.
