Kottayam: Nurse on stir attempts suicide'; stable
60 of the nurses of the Bharath hospital were dismissed after they began a strike demanding an increase in the salary and other benefits.
Kottayam: A nurse who was on strike at the Bharath hospital near here allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday night.
The condition of the nurse, Bijitha Chandran, who was admitted to Medical College Hospital, Kottayam, was stable. She was earlier admitted to the district hospital here on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the hunger strike undertaken by the nurses who were dismissed from the Bharath hospital entered 30th day on Wednesday.
The management has refused to hold talks, said the strike leaders. “A solution to the issue is far away,” said Mr E.V. Prakash, convenor of the strike committee.
