Hyderabad: Any technology developed for senior citizens care must be inclusive, said Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan while delivering the inaugural address at the third UNMUKT Knowledge Series in the city at T-Hub in the IIIT- Hyderabad campus on Saturday.
Jayesh Ranjan, who was the chief guest, pointed out that elderly people have many immediate and unmet needs. “Technology can fulfil some of these needs. Elderly also have livelihood issues. A survey conducted six years ago in the city revealed that 60 per cent of people who beg at 100 traffic junctions are elderly destitute,” he pointed out. Referring to Telangana State Innovative Cell and its initiative ‘Intinta Innovation’ (Innovation in Every Household), he said, “The ‘Intinta Innovator’ campaign has been launched to take innovation to every household in the state. We must apply native wisdom to these innovations, so that many grassroots problems get resolved.”
