Hyderabad: Child hit in stomach at NRI School, says family
A teacher, Krishna Kumari, badly hit a Class 4 student when he complained that other students were snatching and eating his lunch.
Hyderabad: The Vanasthalipuram police has booked a case against a teacher of NRI School for allegedly manhandling a Class 4 student.
According to child rights' activist Achuyta Rao, “A teacher, Krishna Kumari, badly hit a Class 4 student when he complained that other students were snatching and eating his lunch."
The child's grandfather, Mr Jagan Chary, said he had dropped his grandson at school at 8.30 am. "He had not been eating his tiffin for the last few days. He complained that his classmates were asking for food every time he opened his tiffin. That is why he did not eat it."
At 11.00 am Mr Chary got a call from the school, saying that the child had fallen ill and was vomiting.
“When I saw the child, he was drenched in water that was used to clean up the vomit. Upon asking him, he told me that the principal and a teacher had hit him in the stomach. I took him to the hospital where they asked us to admit him for 24 hours, but due to paucity of funds we had to bring him back home,” said Mr Chary.
Mr Chary lodged a complaint with the police. “We have received a complaint and we are investigating,” said Vanasthalipuram inspector A. Venkataiah.
