HYDERABAD: Director of public health (DPH) Dr G. Srinivasa Rao has been drawing flak from the medical fraternity and political leaders for touching the feet of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at an official event.

This pertains to the event at Pragati Bhavan where the Chief Minister inaugurated eight new medical colleges in the state. The DPH is seen touching Rao’s feet twice in a span of a few seconds, and the visuals were captured by cameras which were covering the programme.

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar referred to the incident during his speech on Wednesday. “The Chief Minister has destroyed bureaucracy too. We just saw the DPH falling at the CM's feet twice. Maybe the CM has a scheme, fall at his feet once to become an MLC, twice to get an MLA ticket, and thrice for a MP opportunity,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), tweeted “What more we can expect from in-charge administrators who are illegally continuing in those posts? It's now confirmed it will be our foolishness to expect any works related to public health from these in-charge administrators [sic].”

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media platforms.
