Andhra Pradesh: Chandranna Kanuka Scheme to brighten up Christmas

Kakinada: Joint Collector A. Mallikarjuna said that under the Chandranna Kanuka scheme, around 4.02 lakh Christians in East Godavari District would be offered a package of six essential commodities including one kilo wheat, ½ kilo chana dal, ½ kilo redgram, ½ kilo jaggery, ½ litre palm oil and 100 mls ghee valued at Rs.244.24 each in a non-woven carry bag.

He said that there were 16.15 lakh white rationcard holders in the district out of which 4.02 lakh belong to Christian families. He said that the distribution of kits would be commenced in the district coinciding the state wide decision. He requested Christian families in the district to make use of the opportunity for the coming Christmas festival. He said that each ration shop dealer would be given commission per kit for distribution. Mr Mallikarjuna visited mandal level storage point of the stock at Sambamurthy Nagar here on Friday.
