Child care home booked over forced begging
Concerned departments are not making the organisers of the orphanages accountable, NGO alleges.
Hyderabad: The Vanasthalipuram police registered a case against the organisers of a child care home, for allegedly forcing the inmates into begging. A child rights activist had lodged a complaint with the police.
Achyutha Rao from Balala Hakkula Sangham in his complaint to the police stated that Vijaya Satyanand , who runs the Gracious Paradise Orphanage in Vanasthalipuram, is forcing children to beg on the streets. He stated that this is a severe violation of child rights, risking their protection inside the orphanage. “The organisations are exploiting children and making money in their name.
Concerned departments are not making the organisers of the orphanage homes accountable,” Mr Rao said.
He demanded that the organisers be arrested immediately. Based on his complaint, a case was booked under Section 76 of the Juvenile Justice Act. “The case is under investigation. Based on the evidence, the investigation will proceed,” said officials from Vanasthalipuram.
