Guntur: The first of its kind gas insulated power sub-station in India was inaugurated at Guntur on Friday to supply electricity to the public. Guntur west MLA M. Venugopala Reddy inaugurated the 33/22kV power sub-station constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore at Lakshmipuram on Friday. He said that Telugu Desam government giving power without cuts. He said that the gas insulated power sub-stations would be very useful and sought installation of similar sub-station for supply of quality hassle-free electricity to the public. 

He praised the efforts of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in helping AP State overcome the power crisis. Now AP is producing surplus power. He asked APSPDCL to install more modern power sub-station in Guntur to resolve improper supply issues.

Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner Ch Anuradha said the GMC will cooperate in allotting sites for installation of power sub-stations and sought APSPDCL to submit proposals for the sites in various areas of the Guntur city. APSPDCL superintendent engineer B. Jayabharat Rao said the gas insulated power substation established with Sweden technology by using German material is the first of its kind in India. Divisional Engineer Tirupathi Reddy, Srinivasa Rao and others participated in the programme.
