Visakhapatnam: Naidu aide’s son rams SUV into bike
The SUV came to halt after hitting the road-divider and the base of Potti Sreeramulu statue.
Visakhapatnam: Former minister and senior TD leader Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy’s son Appala Naidu, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, went berserk and drove his SUV at high speed on the beach road during the early hours of Sunday.
He lost control and knocked down a motorcycle, injuring two youth. Sources said Appala Naidu and his friends, including Suryadevara Mourya, son of retired DIG S. Venkateswara Rao, and another friend Uriti Praveen Yadav, were returning home from a star hotel, where a party had been organised in connection with the pre-release of the Balakrishna-starrer, Ruler. Appala Naidu was driving the car when it hit the two-wheeler from behind near Potti Sreeramulu statue on the beach road. Gowtham, who was riding the bike, suffered minor injuries while pillion rider Chandra Kiran suffered injuries on his nose and other parts of his body.

Locals rushed to the spot and alerted the police. Chandra Kiran was shifted to the King George Hospital, little distance away from the accident spot. Sources said Chandra Kiran is a first-year MBBS student of Andhra Medical College. His condition is said to stable.
Appala Naidu and his friends fled the scene. Mourya and Praveen surrendered before the police later. Police registered a case against Appala Naidu under Section 337 of IPC.
