Heavy traffic gives Tirupati residents a tough time
Citizens should be aware of the traffic irregularities.
TIRUPATI: Citizens in Tirupati are facing tough time with traffic snarls on the roads. The traffic is heavy especially during the peak hours of the day.
The roads from Poorna Kumbham flyover to Kapilteertham, Lakshmi Puram Circle to Annamaiah Circle, Gandhi Road to University Road are witnessing heavy traffics. Police has also deployed special parties to control the traffic.
Traffic has increased in Tirupati from last few days as most of pilgrims have come to Tirumala being holidays. The traffic is related to the holidays, majorly. The traffic doubles in the city during the holidays. The cabs from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka take a major part in the traffic during these days. From last two days the police has struck up in guarding the CM and the opposition leader who had stayed in the same constituency from last two days.
Lack of awareness in some of the public also seems to be the reasons for traffic jams. Some jump signals, while some blocks free left road during the signals. Apart from these the local buses are also one of the major reasons for the traffic jams, as they are not stopping the bus in the bus stop. Some of the buses are making the no parking boards as stopping points.
On query an RTC bus driver on condition of anonymity said, “Some of the passengers in the University Road seems educated, but they will wait for the bus at no parking points. If we deny them, then starts a verbal war between us. So, we now stop the bus at the points where they stay.” The traffic violators are being repeatedly caught. M.H. Raju a motorist from Tirupati said, “The citizens should be aware of the traffic irregularities. First the police department should immediately come up with traffic training programmes like Counsiling etc. to the traffic violators.”
