Telangana: Police seize Wakf board documents
The case relates to issuance of a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) pertaining to six acres of Wakf property in Medchal in Malkajgiri district.
HYDERABAD: The police collected documents from the Telangana State Wakf Board to ascertain the signature of Mr M.A. Mannan Farooqui, its chief executive officer.
The case relates to issuance of a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) pertaining to six acres of Wakf property in Medchal in Malkajgiri district. The NOC was issued by the board in August last year, saying that the land under the survey numbers 643, 647, 659 and 660, measuring 6.8 acres, does not belong to the board.
The land is a property of Wakf and belongs to Dargah Hazrath Mir Mahmood.
The NOC was issued with the signature of Mannan Farooqui. During a departmental enquiry, it was found that there was no application seeking an NOC regarding the land.
The CEO said that his signature was forged and lodged a complaint with the Abid Road police. “We questioned a few employees of the board. Documents were also collected,” said Mr A Gangaram, inspector Abid Road police station.
The police has also written to the Malkajgiri collector to hand over the NOC. “Once it is handed over, we will be sending the NOC to the forensic laboratory,” the inspector added.
Board chairman said that they have asked the Malkajgiri collector not to allow any construction on the Wakf land.
