YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a betrayer: TD accuses him of sacrificing AP pride for power
The Telugu Desam has accused the TS government of shunting out 1,200 AP employees working in the power sector in Telangana.
Hyderabad: With the meeting of leaders of the TRS and YSRC leaders, the Telugu Desam has intensified its efforts to portray YSRC leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as betraying Andhra pride by pandering to the self-interest of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Mr Reddy and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao met at Lotus Pond for talks on the formation of the Federal Front on Wednesday, prompting AP leaders to accuse Mr Reddy of sacrificing the pride of the people of Andhra Pradesh to the greed and ambition of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao who wants to become Chief Minister of AP and wants money.
The statements of TD leaders such as minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao, MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy and MLC B. Venkanna with regard to the meeting indicated the stand the TD would take to target Mr Reddy in the forthcoming elections.
Mr Uma Maheshwara Rao quoted statements made by Mr Chandrasekhar Rao against the people of AP. He asked how Mr Reddy could join hands with a leader who had snubbed the interest of the Andhra people and had filed cases in the Supreme Court to stall the prestigious Polavaram irrigation project.
The Telugu Desam has accused the TS government of shunting out 1,200 AP employees working in the power sector in Telangana and throwing them onto the roads and also of evasion of '5,200 crore of power arrears.
Political analysts say that during the recent Assembly elections the TRS had worked on the sentiments of the people of TS after the Congress allied with the TD, and thus won the elections, and the TD would adopt a similar formula in the coming polls in AP to snub the YSRC.
