Fee cap, English medium in TS government schools soon
The Cabinet also decided to introduce English medium in all government schools and bring special legislation in this regard
Hyderabad: The state Cabinet which met here on Monday decided to regulate fee structure in private schools, junior colleges and degree colleges in the state. It was decided to enact a separate legislation to regulate fees in private educational institutions.
There has been a long pending demand from various parents’ and students’ associations to regulate fees in private institutions. Parents associations in the past had even moved the High Court seeking directions to the state government to regulate fees. Although the High Court asked the state government to devise a mechanism to regulate fees, it got delayed due to various reasons.
The Cabinet also decided to introduce English medium in all government schools and bring special legislation in this regard.
It was decided to constitute a Cabinet sub-committee to study both these issues and finalise modalities for fee regulation in private institutions and English medium in government schools. The committee will be headed by education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and comprises ministers K.T. Rama Rao, Harish Rao, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, G. Jagadish Reddy, V. Prashanth Reddy, Koppula Eashwar, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, S. Niranjan Reddy, V. Srinivas Goud and Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
The Cabinet also decided to launch 'Mana Vuru, Mana Badi' (our village, our school) to strengthen government schools by providing quality education and beefing up infrastructure facilities at a cost of Rs 7,289 crore.
