Vijayawada; Commissioners of customs S. Khader Rahman on Tuesday called on public to help the department curb smuggling across the state by informing them of any illegal trade of valuable goods.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Khader said, “Any person who gives proper information on smuggling of any prohibited items or valuable items like gold would be given 20 per cent of the seizure.

As per the department rules, the identity of the person who acts as informer would be kept a secret.”

“The informers need not reveal their name too. They can just call up our officers across the state, give information of smuggling and details of their moles and a fingerprint.

Even while giving the reward their name would not be asked and only moles and fingerprint would be verified. Concerned officer will meet the informer at a secret place and hand over the reward,” he said.
