KOLLAM: The posters paying homage to O. N. V. Kurup and that of the Janakeeya Yatra led by CPI leader Kaanam Rajendran were vandalised by anti-social elements here.

Black oil was poured onto ONV's hoardings installed by Prakash Kala Kendra at Neeravil and by the CPM at Kureepuzha.

The assailants also destroyed the posters of Janakeeya Yatra at Neeravil junction which were  kept near the ONV hoarding and the publicity hoardings installed by the CPM and the CPI in the Thrikkadavoor area.

According to sources, the attackers included those from Kadavoor, Neeravil, and Kuppana areas who were involved in the violence against CPM party office and its leaders earlier.

“Nothing would affect the greatness of a poet who took a clear stand on every issue throughout his life. These acts of intolerance are indications of religious extremism,” poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar told DC.

"The Police is probing into the incident and the culprits are yet to be detained.
“The attack appears to have been carried out by anti-social elements and not specifically targeting any political party," said M. K. Prasanth Kumar, Anjalumoodu SI.
