The Commissioner ordered the ACPs of Balanagar and Bahadurpura to submit a detailed inquiry report of both the incidents.

Hyderabad: The failure of police to act on their complaints forced a Moosapet resident and a woman from Shamshabad to approach the State Human Rights Commission. The Commissioner ordered the ACPs of Balanagar and Bahadurpura to submit a detailed inquiry report of both the incidents.

Mr P. Raghupathi Reddy from SP Nagar in Moosapet posted in the colony whatsapp group that he would not vote for the corporator in the next election. He was reacting to the road repair works that had been going on in his colony since January 2017. Despite repeated complaints to the GHMC, representations to Fateh Nagar corporator P. Satish Goud and the MLA, there was no action.

After seeing his post, the corporator responded saying he had ‘sold’ his vote during the previous elections and could do so again in the next election.
Mr Raghupathi claimed he felt insulted and upset with the post and even other members started questioning the corporator’s post.

“I gave a written complaint to the SHO Sanathnagar with all evidences of the defamatory comments and requested action, but police did not take any action owing to political influence,” he said. The commission ordered ACP Balanagar to submit a report by June 4 on the allegations.

In another incident, Urmila Baheti from Bahadurpura owned a land Ootpally village in Shamshabad.

After her husband Rajgopal’s death in March 2016, K. Devender Goud, from whom they had purchased the property, started threatening her and demanded '4.75 lakh for the land. When she expressed her helplessness, he threatened to take back the land with his men. When she approached Shamshabad police to lodge a complaint, they suggested a compromise as he was ‘a big man’.

Recently, when she went to her land to show it to her relatives, Devender’s men allegedly assaulted and throttled her and she was rescued by her relatives. “While his men touched me inappropriately and threw me out of the place, Devender threatened to outrage my modesty as also that of my daughters if I did not give in to his demands. I sent letters to the Commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad and the SHO Shamshabad in this regard through registered post, but in vain,” Mrs Urmila said.

The commission ordered the ACP of Shamshabad to inquire into the matter and submit a report by April 3.
