Hyderabad: Senior rides bike on ORR, pays with life
His scooter was hit by car coming from the wrong side.
HYDERABAD: A retired Commandant of TS Special Police who was riding on the wrong side of the Outer Ring Road was killed in an accident at Narsingi on Friday morning. Police said that though two wheelers are not allowed on the ORR, S. Surender had entered it via the service road and was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction.
The 64-year-old senior citizen was a resident of Sriram Nagar colony in Kondapur and retired in 2012 as Commandant of TSSP, said the police.
“He was on his way to Kollur on his Activa, bearing the number AP 28 DM 8094, and riding on the wrong side. A car, driven by Poorna-chander Rao, a resident of Medchal, was coming from the opposite direction in the right lane and rammed into the bike, killing him,” said the Sub Inspector of Narsingi, B. Nagi Reddy.
The body was taken to the Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem. Based on a complaint given by Surender’s son, Bharat, a case has been booked under section 304-A (death by negligence) of IPC.
