Jagan Praja Sankalpa Yatra enters Prakasam district
The yatra entered the district at Kothapeta in Lingasamudram mandal of Kandukuru constituency.
Nellore: Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy began the Praja Sankalpa Yatra in Prakasam district, on Friday. The yatra entered the district at Kothapeta in Lingasamudram mandal of Kandukuru constituency. Jagan was received by Ongole MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, former minister B. Srinivasa Reddy, party cadre and YSRC supporters. Jagan unfurled the party flag at Kothapeta. In Prakasam district. The yatra will cover 255 kilometres covering over nine constituencies.
On the first day of the Yatra Jagan covered Rallapadu Reservoir, Thatha hotel, Jampalavari-palem, Pentrala, Vakamalle-varipalem, Lingasamud-ram, Balijapalem, Rama-krishnapuram, Thimma-reddypalem, Vengalapuram, Kammapalem and Bangara-kkapalem. At Rallapadu, farmers complained to Jagan that some ruling party leaders were diverting water to their fishponds though it is meant for irrigating their parched lands.
A Kondaiyah, shephard from Lingasamudram village, appealed to Jagan to restore the insurance scheme introduced during Dr YSR regime. He said they used to get compensation of 3,000 rupees by paying 100 rupees as insurance when a goat or a sheep died during YSR governance. But the incumbent TDP government is not considering their issues. They requested Jagan to help shepherds like his dad. Jagan told them that he has taken these issues on priority and announced that the YSRC party will implement a service which takes care of sheep during accidents.
YSR Congress leaders said farmers, students and the common man of Prakasam are eagerly awaiting for the arrival of Jagan to air their grievances. Their grievances include the Ramayapatnam port as the priority as that single project will wipe out unemployment problem plaguing the youth of the district in dsearch of jobs. They also pointed to the ordeals of tobacco farmers, heavy fluoride content in the drinking water and frequent drought.
