Shuhaib murder case: Relinquish Home, Oommen Chandy tells CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Chandy said Pinarayi had no moral right to hold the home portfolio.
Thiruvananthapuram: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday demanded a high-level investigation into the brutal murder of young Congress leader Shuhaib. At a press conference here, he lashed out at chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan saying his silence on the issue was terrifying. There was grave lapse on the part of the police in not arresting the culprits.
“A chief minister who reacts to a film song is not even prepared to assure the people of the state that the culprits will be nabbed and strict action will be taken against them. When a pregnant woman lost her baby after being kicked by partymen, the chief minister remained mum.
Chandy said Pinarayi had no moral right to hold the home portfolio. “Someone who cannot raise voice against such violence and direct police to act sternly should better leave the home portfolio,” he said. When asked whether the murder was carried out with the knowledge of the CPM leadership, the former chief minister said one could not think otherwise.
