Sixth Pay Commission announcement put on hold

Chief Minister said that the financial implication of the recommendation would be Rs 10,508 cr, but remained silent on the implementation.

Bengaluru: The much awaited sixth pay commission’s recommendations, which were aimed at making government employees happy has been put on hold.

Though Chief Minister Mr Siddaramaiah made a mention of the commission recommending salary hike to the tune of 30% for over 5.93 lakh employees, the proposal was merged with the commission's pending recommendations on measures to be taken to increase efficiency of various departments, which would be given by April 30.

Mr Siddaramaiah also said that the financial implication of the recommendation would be Rs 10,508 crore, but remained silent on the implementation. Sources said that the announcement may come during his reply to the debate on the budget in the Assembly in the latter part of the month.
