Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam to start campaign today
Chandramohan Reddy said that TD would form two committees to monitor campaign and election.
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam will start election campaign in AP from February 17. TD decided to complete the selection of candidates before the issue of election notification and will release the first list of the candidates.
TD politburo decided to give party tickets to only ‘winning horses’ and a TD Strategy Committee will be appointed to implement plans to win the elections.
The TD politburo meeting led by TD national president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was held at the Prajavedika at Undavalli on Saturday.
Briefing the media about politburo decision, minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that TD would launch the election campaign from Sunday in all 13 districts of AP state. He said that TD will release the first list with names of 100 to 125 candidates before the issuing of election notification.
Mr Reddy said selection of candidates would be based on the internal survey, ability, worth and service to the public and party and only winning horses would get TD tickets. He said that TD welfare schemes is the main weapon of TD in the campaign and TD cadres would vastly campaign about the same.
Mr Chandramohan Reddy said that TD would form two committees to monitor campaign and election. He said that TD Strategic Committee will be formed with the leaders who can give time staying at Amaravati. He announced that another TD Election Manifesto committee will be formed to prepare TD election manifesto by collecting public opinions about their wants and wishes.
He further said that TD politburo meeting discussed about the welfare of farmers and decided to prepare a detailed plan for the farmers’ welfare. He said that Mr Naidu will appoint members to duo committees and further another team for the implementation of vision document will be appointed.
Mr Chandramohan Reddy said that there is no loss to TD with the leaving of some leaders and warned that AP people will teach a befitting lesson to those leaders. He said that only 2 percent of leaders have left TD during the past five years but many leaders joined in TD from other parties which shows the popularity of TD. He informed that Telangana TD will select candidates for Telangana state and powers in this regard was given to TD Telangana committee.
He alleged that PM Narendra Modi, YSR Congress president Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and TS Chief Minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao colluded to defeat TD in the elections.
