Hyderabad: Around 200 students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MAN-UU) conducted a silent rally on the University campus on Thursday, to create awareness about fee hikes, seat cuts in research, and hostel evictions.
The rally started from the School of Languages, and ended at the Administrative Building, where the president and the secretary of MANUU Student Union (MSU) spoke.
Protesters then proceeded to conduct a Democracy Wall campaign. As part of their protest, students created a poster that read ‘No fee hike and Research Seat cut’.
Tajamul Islam, president of the Student Union and an English PhD student, said, “Last year our university witnessed a large-scale pro-test against the fee hike. We are disappointed with the fee hike for 2017-18 as well.” MSU will continue its protest until our demands are met. We demand no fee hikes, no seat cuts in research, and education for all.”
