Muraleedharan, a senior BJP leader from Kerala has opted for self isolation at his Delhi residence as a precautionary measure
New Delhi: Union Minister V Muraleedharan has gone into self quarantine following suspicion that he might have come in contact with a doctor in Kerala who tested positive for the coronavirus.
V Muraleedharan made the decision as he attended a review meeting at Sree Chitra Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) at Thiruvananthapuram from where a doctor has tested positive for COVID-19.
Though the infected doctor didn’t attend the review meeting, the minister decided to go for self quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure. The minister has no virus symptoms and he will continue to work from home, according to regional TV channel reports.
Muraleedharan attended the meeting on March 14 at SCTIMST and held talks with doctors.
A doctor in Radiology department at SCTIMST, who visited Spain recently, has tested positive for the killer virus. Doctors and other hospital staff who were exposed to the infected patient have been asked to go on leave. Functioning of the premier healthcare institute has been hit.
