CBI should probe plot scam, High Court told
The petitioners alleged that Mr Goud committed several irregularities in allotting housing plots.
Hyderabad: J. Ravinder Reddy, vice-president of Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society Ltd and two others have approached the Hyderabad High Court, seeking a CBI probe into alleged financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 419 crore in the society represented by its president K. Swamy Goud who is now the chairman of the TS Legislative Council.
The petitioners alleged that Mr Goud committed several irregularities in allotting housing plots in the 160 acres at Gopanapally and Kancha Gachibowli villages allotted to the society by the state government in 2005 for allotting house sites to its employees. They told the court that the inquiry officer appointed by the commissioner of cooperation and registrar of cooperative societies found several grave irregularities involving the society president.
The petitioners said that a criminal case was lodged against Mr Goud and others, but the police closed it without taking into consideration the inquiry report, due to political influence and pressure. They urged the Court to direct the Central and state governments to order a CBI probe into the irregularities allegedly committed by the society president.
PIL on catfish cultivation filed:
Hyderabad: A PIL has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court challenging inaction of the district administration in controlling rampant cultivation of catfish in several mandals of Mahbubnagar district.
Radhakrishna Reddy and Raghavender Reddy, Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency members of the district, moved the court stating that several private individuals were cultivating the banned fish in the backwaters of Tungabhadra, Jurala and Srisailam projects by digging ponds in Gadwal, Dharur, Alampur, Wadepally and other mandals in the district.
They said that though they have submitted several representations to the district administration, the authorities have not taken any action to destroy the ponds. Reminding that the Centre banned catfish cultivation in 1997, the petitioners urged the court to direct the authorities concerned to destroy the fishponds and take action against the persons involved.
