Plant 5 crore tamarind trees, says K Chandrasekhar Rao
Rao told officials to collect data regarding food needs of the people within the next 10 days, based on which crop colonies can be set up.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday asked officers to evolve a strategy to provide minimum support price to farmers keeping in view the future supply of irrigated water to 1.25 crore acres.
Speaking at a high-level meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on providing MSP to farmers, Mr Rao said that in tune with the thought process of the Telangana government, the Centre had recently instructed its officers to establish crop colonies in every state. “The efforts of the Telangana state government to provide minimum support price to the farmer has become a role model for the entire country. We should feel proud for this.”
He told officials to collect data regarding food needs of the people within the next 10 days, based on which crop colonies can be set up.
He said farmers should get their cheques within five minutes after their sale was completed. He wanted officers to tour Punjab, study the farming of rice and advise farmers in the state on methods to improve output.
He said tamarind was in short supply in the market, and five crore tamarind saplings should be planted during the Haritha Haram later this year. He said consumption of healthy food products should be encouraged. He said the use of TS Sonalu rice is better in regulating in preventing diabetics.
