10 year free education for landless poor in Amaravati
BC welfare department to implement scheme.
Hyderabad: The children of farmers and other landless poor will get free education for 10 years, starting from the academic year 2015-16, in the new capital of Amaravati, which is being built on pooled land, according to guidelines that the state government issued on Monday.
The state government had earlier issued orders regarding certain policy guidelines as well as the procedure for sanction and reimbursement of fee and post SSC scholarships to students belonging to various disadvantaged sections of the population.
The commissioner, Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) furnished draft guidelines for reimbursement of tuition fee in government and recognised polytechnics, professional colleges and university colleges for all those living in the Amaravati capital city area as on December 8, 2014 and the government issued the guidelines for this, starting from the year 2016-17.
Implementing agency: Backward classes welfare department shall be the implementing agency. At the district level, the District Backward Classes Welfare Officer (DBCWO) shall be responsible for its implementation.
Implementation period: This scheme shall be applicable for a period of 10 years, starting from the academic year 2015-16.
Those who become eligible during the last year of the scheme shall have continued benefits under it till the completion of that course.
