Over 15,000 students from CBSE board after registering their applications are awaiting their class 12 results.
Chennai: Around 80,000 students have registered till Wednesday for online engineering counselling to be conducted by Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions Committee.
Over 15,000 students from CBSE board after registering their applications are awaiting their class 12 results.
The application process was made simple by TNEA this year. Over 90 per cent of the candidates are registering their online applications on their own and only 10 per cent of the candidates have visited the TNEA facilitation centres so far.
After the registration of applications, the candidates have to visit the TFCs for certificate verification which is tentatively scheduled for the first week of June.
TNEA secretary V.Rhymend Uthariaraj explains the procedures of certificate verification and online counselling to the engineering aspirants:-
TNEA will announce the certificate verification schedule after the application process is over. The candidates have to go for TNEA facilitation centres of their choice for certificate verification. When they come for certificate verification, they have to bring their original certificates with photocopies as mentioned in the application.
While bringing the applications, they have to paste a recent photograph in the application. As per the schedule, the candidates have to attend the certificate verification. If they are not able to come within the five days, they can also come on the sixth day. The candidates also can authorize a person to attend the CV with a proper authorisation letter, original certificates and signed application form with photocopies.
If the candidates have joined the colleges or are currently pursuing a degree they have to bring bonafide certificate and attested copy of required certificates. They need not bring their transfer certificates.
Apart from validating the data they can also correct any wrong information provided during the registration by bringing original certificates.
The corrections will be made if they provide proper certificates and they also receive SMS about the update.
TNEA will give booklets containing information of all the engineering colleges and frequently asked questions. A video will also be displayed at TFCs explaining the next phase of online counselling.
After the publication of rank list, the candidates will be divided into five groups based on their ranks. The online counselling will be held in five rounds. Each round of counselling will be held for five days with three days for registering the choices and two days to freeze their choices.Candidates should pay attention to the choice order as it is very, very important in the online counselling. They should check the last three years cut-off marks and should select their choice of courses and colleges with plus or minus five marks. After each round, the details of vacant seats will be updated. After freezing their choices, the candidates will get the allotment order as PDF file. They will be provided sufficient time to join the engineering colleges after that.
