Attack on Shekher: Plea seeking CBI or CB-CID probe rejected

Chennai: The Madras high court has dismissed a public interest litigation, which sought a CBI or CB-CID probe into the criminal case registered against 30 journalists for allegedly pelting stones at the residence of actor turned politician S.Ve. Shekher, condemning his derogatory Facebook post on women journalists.
A division bench comprising Justices R. Subramanian and M. Dhandapani dismissed the PIL filed by advocate K. Prem Anand.
In his petition, Prem Anand accused the Pattinapakkam police of not having taken any action pursuant to registration of a FIR against 30 journalists. The 30 journalists booked on charges of stone pelting had not been arrested or evensummoned for enquiry so far. Therefore, a free and fair enquiry could beconducted in the case, only if it was transferred either to the CBI or at least to CB-CID, he added.
