Hyderabad: Hyderabad was ranked India’s best capital city for solid waste management by the Swachh Survekshan 2018 survey. Siddipet, the Assembly constituency of TS irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, was rated the cleanest town in the south.

Boduppal on the city’s outskirts in Ranga Reddy district was titled the best town in the south with the highest percentage of positive citizen feedback on civic amenities. Peerzadiguda, also on the outskirts, was rated best under ‘innovation practices’, category.

Altogether, Telangana state bagged four ranks in the survey that assessed 4,203 urban local bodies. The survey rated Indore and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh as India’s cleanest and second cleanest cities. Chandigarh was ranked as the third most clean city.

The cities were categorised by population. The 40 awards were divided into national level, zonal level for the four zones and cantonment board. Each city was rated only for one award.
