Two 12-year-olds drown in Hennagara Lake
According to the police, on Tuesday evening, the two went missing and their mothers said they were playing outside their house.
Bengaluru: Two 12-year-old boys drowned in Hennagara lake while they were swimming on Tuesday evening in Anekal in Jigani police station limits. The incidents came to light on Wednesday morning after the villagers residing near the lake alerted their parents.
The deceased have been identified as Gautham, 12, who lived with his mother Radha and grandfather, Hemaraju and Sujith, 12, who hails from West Bengal and lived with his mother Sonali. They both were class six students at Jigani Government School.
They were residing in Hennaki along with their single mothers, who are employed at a garment factory in Bommanahalli.
According to the police, on Tuesday evening, the two went missing and their mothers said they were playing outside their house. Both the families tried searching them, thinking that they had gone to their friend’s house, but did not file a missing complaint.
On Wednesday morning, the villagers found clothes and slippers near the lake and informed the victims’ family. The fire and emergency rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies.
The police said that the two might have gone to the lake for a swim as their slippers and clothes were found on the bank.
The Jigani police have registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
