Kamal Haasan just an opportunist: L Ganesan
The quip by Haasan has brought dissent from all sides for hurting Hindu sentiments.
Thanjavur: It was rank opportunism on the part of actor-politician Kamal Haasan to use Mahatma Gandhi assassination and the name of Nathuram Vinayak Godse in the Aravakurichi election campaign, said BJP national executive committee member, L. Ganesan, here on Thursday.
“He was simply wooing the Muslim vote bank," said Ganesan. Noting that he claimed to have come to seek justice for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi as his grandson, he added, “What the connection between Gandhi's assassination and Aravakurichi election is, I do not know?"
“We can call Mahatma Gandhi a good Hindu. But Kamal Haasan described a negative person as Hindu. This is an insult to all Hindus," said Ganesan. The actor has proved that he's a confused man by his comments, he added.
The quip by Haasan has brought dissent from all sides for hurting Hindu sentiments.
Speaking about other issues, he opined that Governor Banwarilal Purohit should soon take a decision on releasing the seven convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Speaking on the land exploration excercises, "We depend upon imported petroleum products. Previous governments at the Centre found that the Tamil Nadu coast is rich in oil products. Exploration can be done without affecting farmers," Ganesan added.
