The court issued notice to Mohsin and other respondents following an appeal filed by the Election Commission (EC) challenging the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which has stayed the order suspending Mohsin.

The EC had suspended him for allegedly violating its instructions issued in April 2014 that SPG protectees should not be checked. After he was suspended, Mohsin had challenged his suspension before CAT. Now, the EC has challenged the CAT order. Niyazuddin M.K., an advocate has filed the petition challenging illegal occupancy by Karnataka Government Secretariat (KGS) club, even though their lease expired in 1997.
