International Museum Day: Heritage walks in Hyderabad
The Centenary Heritage Museum showcases terracotta, stucco, prehistoric, megalithic, and iron artifacts
Hyderabad: A walk will be organised to mark the ‘International Museum Day’ on May 18 at State Museum in Public Gardens at 10 am, and another at Centenary Heritage Museum, Gunfoundry at 12 noon.
The city of Hyderabad has many museums where one can explore history and heritage.
The walk is being organised by Deccan Archive and Intach Hyderabad.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sibghat Khan, who is organising the walk, said the walk will focus on epigraphy, sculpture and miniature paintings.
The Centenary Heritage Museum showcases terracotta, stucco, prehistoric, megalithic, and iron artifacts, early historic objects, temple sculptures and door-jambs collected from the submergence area of the Srisailam Project.
The State Museum showcases Hindu, Jain & Buddhist sculptures and bronzes, decorative art objects, paintings (copies of Ajanta, Chugtai, Miniature and Modern) and 18th-19th century objects. It also has an Egyptian mummy, important Buddhist and Jain relics, Buddhist gallery, coins of the Satavahana period, and arms and armour gallery.
